Easter!

We had a great Easter, mostly because Gus got to go to church with us! It was so nice to have him there, the last time he was able to go to church was the beginning of February. With his new job he will get to attend every week, which is such a blessing for him and our family. I was getting pretty worried with the baby coming as to how I was going to stay active! Church was great there was a beautiful musical number where two men and two women sang Consider the Lilly's. It was so powerful and hearing about the life, death, and resurrection of our Savior was so fulfilling and uplifting. I am so thankful for the opportunity I have to go to church each week and be spiritually rejuvenated! I hope you had a Happy Easter!

Remembering when Carlie was born!

The pictures in the slide show below are from when Carlie was born a little over two years ago! Just thought that I would share!

Carlie Moments

Recently we have moved Carlie into a big girl bed! She has done okay but a couple of nights ago she woke up crying at about four o'clock. I went in and asked her what was wrong and she looked at me with her sad face and said, "I'm cryin' mom!" it was so cute that I had to smile and give her a hug.

The other night Gus was playing with Carlie and gave her a pat on the bum. She turned to him and in a kind of scary/harsh voice said, "No Dad! That's Naughty, be Nice!"

Everytime Gus and I hold hands Carlie comes over and pulls them apart saying either, "No it's my Daddy." or "No it's my Mommy."

Carlie and I were sitting in Sacrament meeting two weeks ago and an older man was passing the sacrament. Because we were sitting on the end of our row he was standing by us waiting for the bread to come down the row. Carlie saw him standing there and said in a loud voice, "Hi Grandpa!" The man of course heard her and tried not to laugh... Carlie thinks that every older guy she sees name is Grandpa!

I was standing in the kitchen doing dishes when Carlie came in and hit me on the bum and said "Spankin'" Gus got a kick out of that!

I am a Child of God

We sing as a family every night before bed and we always end with singing I am a Child of God so Carlie has gotten pretty good at it. She is such a fun little girl!

Funny Girl

Carlie is just starting to really talk and has said some pretty funny things. Gus' goal for her all along was to teach her to say "oh crap". Well now she does and I can't get her to stop, she even tries to tell me to say it. Yesterday she was being naughty so I gave her a little spanking and she looked at me with a mad face and said, "don't hit mom!" I wonder where she learned that phrase?

The New Job!

It is kind of an interesting story how Gus found a job at Power Engineers. The company he is, for the next six days, currently employed with... Lamb Weston sent Gus to the Boise State University career fair to recruit for them. While there Gus ran into an old friend of ours from the BSU married ward, Chad Kidd, who was also recruiting at the career fair for Power Engineers. Gus went over to say hi and Chad mentioned that some jobs were avaliable and of course Gus was interested because right now he is not in an engineering position! The HR lady was also there and knew of a lot of job openings and they both kind of hooked Gus up by getting his resume straight to the head hiring guy. Before we knew it he had an interview on a Thursday and by the following Monday they sent Gus a job offer. We really feel blessed that things seemed to fall into place! We are thankful that our families are so supportive of us and we are grateful that my parents are letting us live with them for a few months, they are great!

Happy Birthday to...

This is a little video I took while Carlie and I were singing Happy Birthday to Gus on his birthday! She is so funny.

Baby #2

We are so excited to be expecting our second child. The baby is due June 1st, 2008! We feel so blessed to be having another baby. Carlie is oblivious to what is going on. Yesterday when I was tucking her into bed I told her good night and she said to tell the baby good night. I asked her where the baby was and she patted her own tummy. Silly girl! She is in for a rude awakening! She loves babies and always wants to hold them. Gus is sure that this baby is a boy but I'm not sure... I was sure Carlie was a boy so I've decided to wait and see!

Graduation

Augustus Daniel Drake graduated from Boise State University on May 12, 2007. He graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and he minored in Mathematics. I am so proud of him for working so hard and being so determined to finish! Way to go Gus! You have set a great example for our kids to follow and your education has been such a great blessing in our lives!
